I have been receiving mail from people upset by the mention of
sin, sin nature, and the devil.
People, please
understand my position on sin: Sin does not send a person to
hell. People send themselves to hell when they reject Christ. A born
again woman can starve herself to death or keel over dead while purging
into a toilet and she will still go to heaven.
I am not out
name-calling by addressing the issue of sin. People have all kinds of
other names for sin, but we're talking about the same thing: i.e. bad
habit, disorder, disease (though not all disease is sin), problem, behavior,
etc. A sinner is NOT one who sins, because we ALL sin, yet not all of
us are "sinners." A sinner is simply one who is currently staying
in their sins because they have not received the Savior.
A Christian is not one who no longer sins, but is one who is
forgiven and who no longer has to be subject to sin. In
the lives of Christians, though we are no longer "sinners" (and God
is the one who gets to define that term, mind you) nevertheless, sin
is a fact to be dealt with. Anyone who says they never sin is
lying. So we're all in the same boat, folks. It is not appropriate to
be pointing fingers, as if ones of us are better than others.
I have engaged in no discussion about hell, so please don't read
that into my articles because you have previously had unpleasant experiences
with other Christians who use hell as a scare tactic.
Just wanted to make myself clear....
