ECOVER DISHWASHING
LIQUID: 99% biodegradable within 5
days. Very competitively priced. Contains water, coconut oil-based surfactants,
milk whey, salt, natural acids derived from sugar, chamomile and calendula
extracts, herbal extracts and preservatives found in food.
Ecover: 1-800-434-3440.
ECOVER FABRIC SOFTENER:
Bio-degradable and not tested on animals; no colorings or synthetic
perfumes; no petroleum based surfactants. Makes my clothes softer than
any other softener I've ever tried. Contains water, coconut oil-based
surfactant, guar gum, ethanol, essential oils, and bio-degradable preservatives.
LEMON MATE MIST:
An exquisite non-aerosol air freshener made only from pure, natural
lemon oils and concentrated lemon essence taken from fresh, naturally
grown lemons. Also comes in Lime, which is also delightful, and
Orange, but I have not tried that one yet. No more of that grocery
store stuff for me! Orange Mate, Inc. P.O.
Box 883 Waldport, OR 97394.
SHAKLEE BASIC G:
An EPA-registered highly concentrated germicidal cleaner; has
completely replaced chlorine bleach in my household. I use a Basic G
/ water solution for cleaning my bathroom, cat messes, child bed-wetting
accidents (wipe down the mattress and add 1 T. straight Basic G per
load of laundry) and kitchen surfaces that have been exposed to raw
meat; effectively kills just about all unfavorables, including
staph, HIV-1 (aids virus), and E.Coli. The disinfectant in Basic G is
dimethybenzyl ammonium chloride, which reportedly has no health effects.
It runs about $17 per quart, but a teeny tiny bit goes such a long way
that it is very cost-effective. Even as often as I use mine, I expect
to have my quart bottle for around a year. Also available in a gallon
size. You can't buy this stuff in stores, as Shaklee is an MLM, but
distributors are everywhere...check your telephone directory (I am not
a distributor).
SHAKLEE BASIC H:
Multi-purpose wonder-stuff! Very concentrated liquid can be mixed
in various concentrations to make all kinds of neat cleaners. One quart
will make about 64 gallons of cleaning solution, when used as directed.
Currently, I use it to wash produce, wash the dog, bubble bath, glass
cleaner, all purpose cleaner, laundry pre-spotter, and cleaning fine
washables. Most recently, I tried it in my steam-cleaner, along with
a little Basic G, and it worked wonderfully--won't ever need
to use anything else. Hundreds and hundreds of other uses (the label
claims 1,000), such as gum remover, wallpaper remover, car/boat wash,
soil conditioner, insect repellent, spray for rose bushes, and an invisible
glove when working in the garden or on cars, etc. Basic H is organic,
non-toxic, biodegradable (breaks down within a few hours), non-irritating,
non-magnetic, non-volatile, non-polluting, is not a soap or detergent.
The bottle says it contains linear alcohol alkoxylates. About $9 per
quart, but you only use drops to a teaspoon at a time, so it lasts a
long, long time. Available also in 1, 5, and 30 gallon sizes. Check
your telephone directory for a Shaklee distributor near you.

NATURE'S
GATE HERBAL NATURAL TOOTHPASTE GEL: This is a biodegradable product
free of animal products and with no animal testing. Ingredients of my
favorite flavor, Cool Mint, include vegetable glycerine, silica,
purified water, hydrogenated starch hydrosolate, sage, methylparaben,
cellulose gum, sodium lauryl sulfate (from coconut oil), annatto, azulene,
mint flavors, menthol, calcium ascorbate (vitamin C), and calcium carrot
powder. The tube says it has natural antiseptic properties. Very
cool. My children love the Cherry gel, containing vegetable
glycerine, silica, purified water, hydrogenated starch hydrosolate (
I would like to know what this is), goldenseal, methylparaben,
cellulose gum, carmine, annatto, sodium lauryl sulfate (from coconut
oil), cherry flavor, calcium ascorbate (vitamin C), and calcium carrot
powder. Nature's Gate Herbal Cosmetics: Chatsworth,
CA 91311
NUTRIBIOTIC
UNSCENTED DEODERANT STICK: As good as any antipersperant from
the drug store, but NO ALUMINUM CHLORHYDRATE and no white guck that
sticks to my arm-pits and clothing. An ingredient list I can live with:
grapefruit extract, witch hazel distillate, aloe vera gel, de-ionized
water, propylene glycol and sodium stearate. Quite a bit cheaper than
many of the other brands of natural deoderants, I paid $3.78 for a 2.6-oz
(75 g)stick.
ORGANIC
ESSENTIALS COTTON SWABS: Just like Q-Tips, but no pesticides,
herbicides, fungicides, or bleach! Organic
Essentials: Rt. 1 Box 120, O'Donnell, TX

SAPPO HILL
GLYCERINE CREME SOAP: This is another cruelty-free product; wire-cut,
air-dried, and aged. This disc-shaped soap, along with a good bath sponge,
produces great lather but is also long-lasting. My pick is the Old-fashioned
Oatmeal, which is made of saponified palm and coconut oils, glycerine,
rolled oats, and fragrance.
SHIKAI HENNA
GOLD SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER: Wonderful natural hair products that
leave my hair shiny and soft. Contains a significant amount of neutral
henna to add lustre. Here are the shampoo ingredients: water, henna
extract, lauramide DEA, acetamide MEA, glycerine, TEA lauryl sulfate,
sodium myreth sulfate, acetylated lanolin oil, cocamidopropylbetaine,
steareth-2, methylparaben, citric acid, quaternium-15, fragrance. I
get this in bulk, but usually it is found in individual bottles.
TOM'S OF
MAINE NATURAL TOOTHPASTE: Contains propolis and myrrh; does NOT
contain saccharin, preservatives, dyes, animal ingredients, or artificial
flavors. Sweetened with fruit extracts or cinnamon and peppermint oils.
Mellow flavor is acceptable to my children. We like Cinnamint.
A fluoride variety is also available.
