WANTED--BIBLICAL COUNSELORS

 

I see a tremendous need for there to be a resource list available to those looking for Biblical counselors who rely on the Word of God (the Bible and fellowship with the Teacher the Holy Spirit) and not the wisdom of man (psychology, psychiatry, secular humanism) for truth, guidance and inspiration in helping people.

If you are such a counselor and would like to be included on this resource list, please send me an email stating your name, contact information (complete office address, phone, fax, email, URL, as many as apply), licenses, certificates, or registrations (if any), and a description of the type of counseling you specialize in. If you would like to include information about your fee schedule, please feel free.

The counselor list will be divided into two sections:

1) Counselors who themselves have struggled with eating disorders (EDs) in the past and now help others to overcome EDs, and

2) Counselors who do not have an ED past, who help people dealing with other types of life issues.

This list, when completed, will be added as a webpage on this site. Your listing will not cost you a dime. Those who are struggling with an ED and concerned loved ones are writing in all the time asking where they can find a Biblical counselor--PLEASE, we need to know who and where you are!!! I cannot do this all by myself.

Here are just a few requirements for listing:

  • You must be a born-again son or daughter of God, preaching and teaching Jesus Christ--God's Son--crucified, buried and resurrected.
  • You must believe the Bible is the perfect, inspired Word of God; that it is as relevant today as it ever has been; that it is God's guidebook for our lives, containing "everything we need for life and godliness". (2 Peter 1:3)
  • You must be a faithful, participating member of a local church body; not a nomad or drifter, not a "church of one person"
  • You must have a spiritual father, or pastor--someone whose spiritual authority you submit to, who has been placed over you by God, who deposits into your life on a continual basis the spiritual food you need to live and continually grow as a son or daughter of God.
  • Familiarity with the Scriptures, particularly New Testament is mandatory, and Bible school training is preferable. You do not have to hold a degree. An education in psychology is of course not required, but if you do have such an education it does not count against you so long as those ideas do not predominate over the Word of God in your counseling ministry/practice.
  • You must be ministering/practicing counseling in accordance with the laws, if any, applying to counselors in your state, province, country or other.
